Estrella: Redefining Superyacht Design for UHNWI

Providing a Dynamic Experience

Superyacht design has been constantly evolving over the years, with endless possibilities within operational and safety constraints. The key to creating innovative architecture lies in the imagination of both the owner and the designer. While there are over 5,000 Superyachts in the world, only a few truly stand out. Traditional and practical designs have dominated the yacht industry, but it's time for fresh and boundary-breaking concepts.

This is where Estrella comes in. Designed by Yeojin Jung, Estrella is set to present the next generation of Superyachts for Ultra High Net Worth Individuals (UHNWI). What sets Estrella apart is its ability to provide a dynamic experience to its passengers. By dividing the hull wings into three volumes, Estrella offers different views of the Mediterranean Sea, allowing passengers to truly understand and appreciate their surroundings. The innovative layout also creates an intimate connection with nature, providing a unique and immersive experience.

One of the challenges in designing Estrella was maintaining balance. The Y-shaped concept, with two side hulls attached to both ends of the main hull, raised concerns about the center of gravity. To address this, a ship stabilizer system called Fin stabilizers was implemented. By placing the Fin stabilizers on both sides of the center hull, the balance is counterbalanced, ensuring a smooth and stable sailing experience.

Estrella boasts impressive technical specifications. With an overall length of 104.28m and an overall beam of 57.16m, it offers ample space for guests to relax and enjoy their time on board. The hull is made of aluminum, ensuring durability and strength. Estrella can accommodate up to 20 guests and is manned by a crew of 35. With a cruising speed of 15 knots and a hybrid diesel engine, it combines power and efficiency.

The inspiration for Estrella came from a deep understanding of the evolving needs and desires of UHNWI. The yacht industry has become a symbol of luxury and exclusivity, and the new generation of UHNWI seeks unique experiences and cultures. Estrella aims to fulfill these desires by providing a one-of-a-kind experience that goes beyond traditional Superyacht designs.

Estrella was developed in the UK from September 2018 to May 2019. The design process involved extensive research into the yacht industry, understanding the market trends, and identifying the gaps in existing designs. The goal was to create a Superyacht that not only meets the expectations of UHNWI but also pushes the boundaries of design and innovation.

Estrella's groundbreaking design has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in the Yacht and Marine Vessels Design category in 2021. This award celebrates designs that showcase creativity, resourcefulness, and technical excellence. Estrella's innovative approach to Superyacht design sets it apart and contributes to the improvement of quality of life for its passengers.

Estrella is a testament to the power of imagination and innovation in the world of Superyacht design. With its dynamic experience, unique layout, and commitment to pushing boundaries, Estrella is set to redefine the future of luxury yacht experiences for UHNWI.
